Aerogarden @ 4 weeks

At a month old, my aerogarden is thriving.  Compare the growth from even just a week ago:

I never do a good job at regular pruning and of course my basil grew into the lights (see burn victims below). Despite the poor parenting,  I was able to harvest enough lemon basil for the sauce accompanying tonight’s dinner of tilapia, and a bunch of basil to infuse into the olive oil for salad dressing.

I’m not quite sure how to harvest the globe basil (short plant on the back right of the top photo) and the dill (front right of the same photo) so I will let those be for now.

Aerogarden @ 3 Weeks

This is my third aerogarden set with the previous two generations meeting their early demise because of my travel schedule and poor choice of babysitters.  This time I am growing an herb set with three types of basil, dill, oregano and thyme; a salsa kit with two heirloom tomato plants and a mini jalapeno (which has not bloomed yet so may need to contact customer service for a replacement), and an herbal tea kit with lemon mint, mint, bergamot and lemon balm.  So far so good although the tomatoes are at the age where I'm going to have to thin them – meaning choosing which one survives while the others I chop off.  Quite traumatic I tell you.
